Big, Bold & Colorful: Acrylic Painting with Christian Césari will teach beginning and advanced students alike how to paint big, bold & colorful, similar to the fauvist style, in this four-week acrylic painting session. Fauvism was an avant-garde movement that flourished in the early years of the 20th century. The Fauve painters, including Matisse, expressed their spontaneous, often subjective response to nature in bold, undisguised brushstrokes using high-key, vibrant colors. A materials list will be supplied upon registration.
Instructor Christian Césari, originally from Nice, uses the Fauvists as inspiration in works that capture his Connecticut home and experience. His works were featured in a show at the Mattatuck in 2016.
