Junior WILD! Keepers: Summer Session 1

Keepers program gives participants hands-on experience in the care, feeding, and enrichment of our exotic teaching animals. After completing the class, participants will then choose a day for more in-depth training with our animal care staff. Upon successful completion of both the class and training, participants will then be eligible to volunteer with the animals in the Heckscher WILD! exhibit.  Each session is limited to 5 participants.  Must be 11 by start of program.

Program Note: Students may register for a maximum of one (1) Junior Curator and one (1) Junior WILD! Keeper session. Students who have previously completed a class, even in a previous year, may not enroll in that class again. Multiple registrations for different sessions of the same program will be cancelled and refunded.

Teen Art Studio

Every second Saturday, young artists expand their knowledge of the visual arts and try their hand at varied mediums (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture, fashion, photography). It’s a special time and space just for teen artists where they can steadily build their portfolios and embark on a collective artistic journey in a relaxed, sociable studio environment, with the guidance of a teaching artist. Tin Patchwork Master Class

            Work alongside resident artist, Kim Fox, to create an original piece of tin patchwork. Learn about her methods and practice that combine the natural imagery of honeycombs and bees with metal as an artistic medium. Interactive Performance with Grumbling Gryphons
