WOODBLOCK MONOPRINT with Francine K. Affourtit
Monday – Thursday, 10am – 4pm
4-day workshop, limited to 6; All Levels
Experience the expressive use of the printed mark. This workshop will focus on using the process of printmaking as a tool for producing complex textures, distinctive mark-making, and vivid layers of imagery and color for unique artworks. Allowing for a delicate balance of chance and control, participants will create a series of works by combining woodblock and monotype techniques. Participants will learn how to incorporate gesture and hand-drawn elements into their matrix, including using pastels, colored pencil, variable inking, stencils, and various hand-printing techniques. This workshop will also address carving the woodblock, and utilizing the wood grain for texture and movement.
This course is suitable for all levels. Individual attention from the instructor will allow each student to maximize their potential for this project based on their current level of expertise.
