DESCRIPTION:This exhibition examines depictions of the American flag through 75 works by a diverse group of artists\, beginning during WWI with Childe Hassam’s Italian Day\, May 1918 and continuing to the present day\, including a textile sculpture commissioned for the show from Maria de Los Angeles. The exhibition includes work in a variety of media by artists including Jasper Johns\, Faith Ringgold\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Shepard Fairey\, and Julie Mehretu\, and challenges viewers to consider who the American flag truly represents and whether justice is available to all. Children will explore the quiet beauty of the winter woods\, learning to spot signs of how animals adapt and survive in the colder months. Along the way\, we’ll gently gather natural materials—like acorns\, feathers\, seed pods\, and leaves—that will become the building blocks of our own nature mandalas. \nIn the Botanical Center classroom\, children will use their gathered treasures to create beautiful\, temporary art. Families are welcome to take photos of these unique creations before we return all foraged items to the forest for the animals that need them. This is a wonderful way for children to connect with nature\, practice mindfulness\, and celebrate the magic of the season!

An active pianist\, composer and arranger\, Chris performs extensively throughout New England and the New York area. He has performed with such greats as Jackie McLean\, Nat Reeves\, Steve Davis\, Claudio Roditi\, Slide Hampton\, Houston Person\, Jacomo Gates\, Bob Berg\, Jimmy Greene\, and Greg Banaszak. His works have been commissioned by Jackie McLean\, Curtis Fuller\, Steve Davis\, PBS Television\, and The Polish National Chamber Orchestra of Slupsk. His students have earned top honors in All-State and All-National ensembles and at major national competitions. He is also frequently invited to teach and present around the country.\nBen is the founder of the Florida Guitar Festival\, where he served as Executive Director for nearly a decade\, raising over $100\,000 to support concerts\, competitions\, and educational programs. THE GAME engages your creativity as every choice you make when placing the objects impacts the narrative. Working (and playing!) with Gerald\, gamers collaborate on universe-building and storytelling in a way where individuals can shine and everybody wins! \nGerald Moore is an artist\, educator and entrepreneur. His style is informative and inspiring. He believes deeply in the power of creativity and design principles to have a positive impact on the everyday life of each of us. SUMMARY:PUBLIC LECTURE: Conserving Artemisia Gentileschi’s Hercules and Omphale
DESCRIPTION:1PM GALLERY VIEWING | 2PM PROGRAM \nArtemisia Gentileschi’s painting Hercules and Omphale was severely damaged in a 2020 explosion in the port of Beirut. The blast resulted in the deaths of over 200 people and caused significant damage to cultural heritage sites\, like Sursock Palace\, where the painting was housed. Ulrich Birkmaier\, Senior Conservator of Paintings at the Getty Museum and former Chief Conservator at the Wadsworth\, reveals the three-year process of conserving this previously unattributed work\, now identified as by Artemisia\, the most celebrated professional woman artist of the 17th-century. Birkmaier is joined by Oliver Tostmann\, Susan Morse Hilles Curator of European Art\, for a conversation addressing Artemisia’s impact and the work being undertaken to preserve her legacy. \nFree.
