With his background in photography influencing his careful tonal decisions, the Connecticut-based artist often chooses charcoal on vellum to execute his striking and detailed depictions of both animal and nature. Through an elegant use of line work, Shaefer’s subjects exude texture and dimensionality in both the physical and emotional realm.
