James Fenimore Cooper and His Family in Morse’s “Gallery of the Louvre”
Saturday, July 29, 2017
History Professor James Crawford is the author of the essay James Fenimore Cooper and His Family in Samuel Finlay Morse’s Painting: The Gallery of the Louvre. During this lecture, Crawford will compare and contrast the lives and works of James Fenimore Cooper (a prolific American writer of the early 19th century who is featured in the painting) and Samuel F.B. Morse.
After almost 14 years of curating at museums in Vermont and New York, James Crawford turned his attention to teaching and currently serves as a history professor at various universities and institutions in North Carolina.
