New Exhibition! Mattatuck Museum presents Quotations: The Art of George Deem opens April 9th!
Painter George Deem (1932-2008) made art about art. He took iconic images of the Old and New Masters such as Vermeer, Matisse and Eakins and interpreted them with modern wit and playfulness. Most of the exhibition’s 35 works are drawn from a gift generously donated to the Mattatuck Museum by the Estate of George Deem in 2013.
