Spend an evening with master airbrush artist Alan Pastrana, whose work is currently on view as part of this season’s exhibition, Under Pressure: Painting with Air. Alan will share his artistic process and demonstrate his unique airbrush painting techniques.
Raised in the 80s and 90s during the birth of Hip Hop and graffiti art, Pastrana was heavily influenced by his Queens, NY roots. He is extensively trained in all aspects of fine art including portraiture, fashion illustration and composition, and his Fashion Institute of Technology education influenced his appreciation for classical and contemporary masters including Michelangelo, da Vinci, Sargent, Rockwell and Vargas.
From Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle to Nike, and even the New York Mets, Pastrana’s work has been commissioned by recording artists, fashion designers and iconic brands worldwide. He has been featured in Vogue, Extreme Motorcycle Art, and Easyriders magazines, to name a few.

On Thin Ice: Alaska’s Warming Wilderness transports visitors to the Arctic to confront the startling impacts of climate change. Remarkable animals from the Bruce’s natural history collections are paired with scale landscape models that showcase Alaska’s diverse ecosystem. The installation highlights both subtle and dramatic shifts occurring across the Alaskan landscape, bringing attention to the impact of rising temperatures.
