DESCRIPTION:The reception and opening celebration for our new exhibitions will take place on Sunday\, February 23\, 2025.  Opening remarks will take place at 1 pm. The Museum will offer a reduced admission of $5 for the day.\n \nModern Women: Georgia O’Keeffe & Kay Sage\nFebruary 23\, 2025 – June 8\, 2025\nFor the first time\, Modern Women: Georgia O’Keeffe and Kay Sage places the work of these two pioneering female artists in conversation with each other. Using artwork\, photographs\, objects\, and ephemera\, this exhibition traces their personal artistic trajectories within the larger context of their life experiences. O’Keeffe (1887-1986) Sage (1898-1963) both came of age and artistic maturity in the early 20th century\, a time of social and political upheaval alongside rapid technological change. Modern Women sheds light on how these two female artists responded to the challenges and opportunities of working in the early- to mid- twentieth century\, eventually rising to prominence in important Modernist movements.\nArthur Nager: Building Stories\nFebruary 17\, 2025 – June 1\, 2025\nAfter decades of photographing everyday life\, artist Arthur Nager turned his attention to documenting the Naugatuck Valley. This exhibition compares Nager’s earlier works in black and white with recent color compositions of the region that capture the architecture and landscape of the Greater Waterbury area.\n
