Photographing the Human Figure and Encaustic Workshop | Mattatuck Museum

The MATT presents a special artistic offering with Photographing the Human Figure and Encaustic Workshop. This boutique-style, small group class for experienced photographers gives a basic introduction to the use of encaustic and wax painting focusing on color, collage, monoprinting and special effects as an overlay on photographs. Artists Heather Whitehouse and Leslie Giuliani will focus on combining photography with encaustic paints and pigment sticks in this three-day workshop. Students will photograph the female nude in nature, earning how to work with a model and define their own photography style. The class will culminate in a day spent in Weston, CT at the studio of encaustic mixed media artist Leslie Giuliani. Students will complete the encaustic process.

Pre-registration is required. Class limited to 5 students. Portfolio review required to register for the workshop. Class fee includes one 24 x 24″ panel board and other materials, one developed image on Hahnemuhle paper, and studio visit. Participants will complete at least one finished piece. Please bring a bag lunch and drinks.
