INSTRUCTOR: DJAVAN NASCIMENTO
FRIDAY, JULY 14 THROUGH SUNDAY, JULY 16
10AM – 4PM, 3-DAY WORKSHOP
This silkscreen class will be focused on making patterns, blends, and multi-layer silkscreen prints. The goal will be to provide participants with traditional and experimental tools (mono-printing in silkscreen, varied editions, etc) to aid their artistic practice as a whole, rather than focus only on making a uniform edition of screen prints. Participants will have time to work between demos, coming out of the class with new tools, visual/conceptual experiments and finished prints.
DJAVAN NASCIMENTO is an artist and printmaker originally from Boulder Colorado. He received his MFA in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where he has been living and working since 2014. He will be an Artist in Residence at the Vermont Studio Center. For the past year, he has been working as a printer at Kingsland Printing, where he is the lead printer and colorist working with a group of ten artists to publish a suite of new editions to be released in 2017. Djavan specializes in traditional and non-traditional silkscreen printmaking techniques, and has experience in Intaglio, Relief, Monotype, and combining print techniques with sculpture.
