As the 1960s approached and people started flocking to the suburbs, retail followed and malls began popping up across the U.S. The effect on city center was notable and buildings eventually went vacant. What remained was a collection of neglected beautiful historic architecture and business districts in a rapid state of decline.

Enter the National Trust for Historic Preservation and their plan to revive downtowns in America. The Main Street Program was born. Carl Rosa, CEO of Main Street Waterbury, will discuss the process of the “Four Point” approach to downtown revitalization.
