Teen Studio: Word Art with Matt Ryan at NBMAA

Teens are invited to join comic book artist Matt Ryan of Free Lunch Comics for a special three-day workshop in conjunction with the Museum’s featured exhibition California Dreaming: Ed Moses, Billy Al Bengston & Ed Ruscha. Inspired by Ed Ruscha’s use of text in his work, students will create compositions with a focus on typography, while gaining an understanding of carefully chosen font and hierarchy. Teens should bring an image of a portrait of anyone they would like—themselves, a friend, family member, celebrity—to work from as a base for the final product’s composition.
