SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2017
10AM – 4PM, 1-DAY WORKSHOP

The mysteries of a once-secret craft are revealed in this introductory level marbling workshop. Apply color to a carrageenan (seaweed) size using broom corn whisks and brushes and then perform magic with a series of marbling combs and rakes. Persian fantasy patterns (hearts, flowers and birds) made with a stylus will also be explored. Splashers as well as precision-oriented participants will have an opportunity to create historic combed patterns from the 16th century and more free-form marbled designs. The stunning papers you will produce can be used on a variety of projects, but chances are you’ll want to reserve a few for framing.

DIANE MAURER-MATHINSON’s decorative papers have been shown in galleries and museums throughout the world. Numerous design commissions include work for Lenox China, Harper Collins Publishers and Godiva Chocolates. She is the author of thirteen books on paper art and has demonstrated marbling and paste paper design on several television shows. In addition to writing, teaching workshops and selling marbling supplies and books, Diane produces collages, handbound books and wearable art for fine crafts galleries. Visit Diane at www.dianemaurer.com
