Join Anne Turner Gunnison, the Alan J. Dworsky Senior Associate Conservator of Objects, and Cathy Silverman, Assistant Conservator of Objects and Furniture, in a discussion about object conservation with colleagues from the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), Abuja, Nigeria. The exhibition Bámigbóyè: A Master Sculptor of the Yorùbá Tradition, which closes on January 8, includes many loans from the National Museum, Lagos, in a variety of media. The safe transit of these works, never before exhibited outside of Nigeria, required collaboration between conservators in Nigeria and United States. This partnership—which included a workshop in wood conservation attended by conservators from NCMM museums across Nigeria—will endure long after the exhibition has closed. Generously sponsored by the Martin A. Ryerson Lectureship Fund.
