In The Studio: Painting Adventures
10 am to 12 noon; 1 to 3 pm

We invite you to join us for a day of fun, exploration, and adventure. Looking at masters of the past like J.M.W. Turner, Aldrich exhibiting artists like Ellen Harvey, and other contemporary artists like Lois Dodd, participants will experiment with the ways in which painting, like a good story, can transport us into another time, place, or dimension.

Gallery Tour
3 to 4 pm

Museum educators will lead an introductory tour of the exhibitions on view. Appropriate for all ages, this tour will travel throughout the galleries, investigate key works of art, and invite conversations and observations.

Super Third Saturdays: Tree Spa and Other Performances @ The Aldrich @ The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum
Mar 21 @ 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm

We are opening up the Museum for the day with food, activities, and three special performances, including two artists in the exhibition Weather Report.

Colin McMullan will activate his social project, Tree Spa for Urban Forest Healing, containing a wood-fired maple syrup evaporator funneling maple-scented steam into a spa experience. We invite participants to bring a towel and enjoy sitting in the steam of the native forest, including locally tapped maple trees.

Sean Salstrom will perform Indefinity Box, a performative sculptural work that reflects on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945.

Ravish Momin and Val Jeanty will perform as the duo, Turning Jewels Into Water, which takes its namesake from the notion that water itself will become a precious commodity due to the effects of climate change.  The duo transforms ancient rhythms into the digital realms, turns dance into ritual, and also absorbs and adapts different folkloric traditions into their musical vision.
