Mattatuck Museum: Educator’s Open House




October 21, 2015—(Waterbury, CT) Join the Mattatuck Museum for the Educator’s Open House on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Public and private school administrators and educators of all grade levels are welcome to a three-hour open house just for them. The Mattatuck Museum is approved by the Commissioner of Education as a CT Professional Development Provider. Educators will participate in guided exhibition tours and a related hands-on art project in conjunction with installations of a selection of works from the Museum’s collections of American art and archives related to the history of Connecticut. Participants will receive teaching resources that offer strategies for integrating visual art lessons and American history into classroom instructional practice. A certificate of completion will be issued to those attending. Light refreshments will be served.

The Mattatuck Museum is operated with support from the Connecticut Department of Economic & Community Development/CT Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and the State of Connecticut through the Consortium of Connecticut Art Museums.

 

The Mattatuck is a member of the Connecticut Art Trail, a group of 18 world-class museums and historic sites (arttrail.org). Located on the green in Waterbury, CT at 144 West Main Street, the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Convenient, free parking is located behind the museum in the lots on Park Place.
