Discover your passion for art and history as a Mattatuck Museum Docent!
A docent is part tour guide/part teacher, leading groups through the Museum, sharing insight, and encouraging questions. No prior art history knowledge or teaching experience required. We welcome individuals with a love for art and local history, including college students, retirees, and performers available during the day. Extensive training provided!
Docents enjoy exclusive benefits! You’ll get early access to exhibitions, work closely with museum staff to improve presentation skills, and receive an individual membership to the Mattatuck Museum. Additionally, you’ll be invited to special docent trips, events, engaging lectures, and the annual staff party.
Potential docents must attend one Part 1 session and one Part 2 session to complete the training.
