Learn about the importance of “keystone plants” and examples of some that are readily available for the home garden. In addition, the Master Gardener volunteers will explain how plant selections are made, what bees see, and what’s the best planting scheme and garden design for pollinators. All attendees will receive a copy of the Hill-Stead Pollinator Garden bloom chart.

American Mural Project Extends Its Family-Day Programming To Weekends throughout September

The American Mural Project (AMP) has extended its Family Day programming to weekends through September 29. Families can now participate in art activities any time during open hours. All art activities are included with admission. This month’s activities include Making Art with Fire: Fire Tiles and making Fire Prevention posters. Join us for our 3rd Annual MattaTrek Challenge! Venture forth with Director Bob Burns as he hikes the Litchfield Hills, or join us on Saturday, May 10th on our final 5k hike at the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield! 5K family-friendly hike beginning in White Memorial Conservation Center through the picturesque nature preserve and ending at the nearby Litchfield Distillery. Examine the bold and direct capabilities of woodcut and monotype in combination with instructor Jim Lee. Print multiple layers of transparent inks and observe how images develop with lush color relationships and luminous surfaces. Participants will develop skills in color ink mixing, registration, printing, and stencil. Five Points Members get 10% off.
